Shelby releases 725hp Ford Mustang GT500 with Super Snake modifications

Sunday, September 27th, 2009

When the 2010 GT500 Ford Mustang was release in January, it was just a matter of time before motorsports firm Shelby Automobiles toys with it. During the recent Mid America Ford car show in Oklahoma, Shelby unveiled the blue Mustang in blue equipped with the Super Snake 725hp package.

Shelby fixed a supercharged to the donated coupe and boosted the power of the DOHC V8 5.4L engine to 725hp. Their mechanics also tweaked the car with better radiator and intercooler, JBA exhaust system, and cold air intake.

The Ford tuner company also produced a tamer 630hp variant which uses Borla exhaust instead of the JBA.

Adjustable dampers were also installed to provide the ride with better handling. This came with stiffer springs, tougher anti-roll bar, and some tower brace for the front strut. The Super Snake deal also comes with customized 20-inch rims in combo with P-Zero Perelli rubbers.

Lincoln is looking in a different direction and aims to produce smaller vehicles as sales figures of large units and the Navigator drop over time. You might be seeing the smallest cars donning the Lincoln badge in the near future. Lincoln might have some surprises for its market in the near future to push the brand back to prominence. There is a loud buzz that the car maker is planning to release a compact which will be deriving its DNA from Ford. There hasn’t been any confirmation though if it will be used as the global platform for the Focus.

The car manufacturer have concept cars exploring the idea of providing smaller cars for consumers but these vehicles still need to go into production. Experts are not sure if Lincoln will roll the dice and take the risk to assemble these vehicles.
